Hans-Arno Simon
The biggest success of his career Mr. Hans Arno Simon owed, however, to his wife:„Anneliese, ach Anneliese“ - a very smooth and gentle song, which still is – even today - one of the most played „German Schlager“ in television, radio and folk festivals. This song, the very first vocal song out of Hans Arno's many compositions, also was the first song to achieve the „Goldene Schallplatte“ (German Charts Sale Award) in postwar Germany. This was in 1953 – a time where the economic boom in Germany called „Wirtschaftswunder“ already was flourishing.
Mr. Hans Arno Simon, born in 1920 in Breslau, studied Music, German language and literature and history of art. In 1940 – by the age of 20 years only – Hans Arno's first literature work already was broadcasted by the radio sender of the „Reich“ Breslau.
In the post-war confusion Hans Arno Simon, finally and for the first time, managed to earn some money with his music. With his partner Patrick Hoffmann he founded the „Hamburger Klavierduo“ - a piano duo which recorded the first vinyl production of the – back then – still young record label Polydor.
Notwithstanding this piano duo to be start running and having lot's of engagements, it already got dissolved after 3 years only. Hans Arno then switched to radio. At „Radio Hamburg“ he got - for the first time - involved with programming. But still he wanted to reach more. Creatively unhappy as he could be, he finally discovered the new medium television for himself and his work.
In 1953 Hans Arno and his wife got the great chance to do their first television show: The show „Mr. and Mrs. Merten are asking in“ set the headstone for his career in the spotlight and also was a signal for many very successful activities in tv. Also in 1953 Hans Arno started his first television serial named „Melodious rendez-vous with Hans Arno Simon“ at TV ARD - this show lasted more than five years and Hans Arno hosted nearly all very successful artists, stars and starlets.
In the following years Hans Arno, more and more, dedicated himself to composing. The creative work for other artists fulfilled him with great satisfaction. It goes without saying that all his work - again - was very successful, so in 1961, at last, Hans Arno's childhood dream came true: He finally could form his one record label – with Hans Arno Simon himself as pianist, composer, conductor, lyricist, arranger and, last but lost least, singer!
In 1989 Hans Arno Simon passed away – only two months before his 70th birthday.
